Sigma Digital SLR cameras have the rare distinction of being the only cameras designed and marketed for Artists. This distinction is directly related to the fact that they are also the only current camera that uses the outstanding Triple Layered Foveon Imaging chip. Not only this puts them at the cutting edge of technology but also makes available the Highest Image Quality that visual artists can desire. The sharpness of the images created with the Foveon sensor are usually described as having the same amount of visual detail as the ones created using expensive Studio View Cameras , for a fraction of the cost . Having said that ,It is a fact that any camera is as good as the lenses mounted on them , and the current generation of digital cameras are all more limited by their lenses , than by their internal electronics. If you are an Artist looking for the right Tool to deliver your Vision , a Sigma camera should be your choice, but if you are in pursuit of Photographic Excellence and you really want to have the best image quality that is possible ,then you may want to be one of the few people that can have Leica-R or Nikon-F lenses mounted on it .
These extremely well made mount allows the SD14 ,depending on your choice of pre installed mount, to use Leica-R or Nikon-F lenses and accessories ,with almost no limitations,however some Ultra-wide lenses and some Exotics Fast lenses might require a Slim Version of the IR/Dust protector, that we are also developing. Non Standard lenses , long , heavy Telephoto or Super Wide Angle lenses can be used on the Standard Lite version Mount , if handled with care , but if you anticipate their use , it is advisable to order an upgrade to the Stronger Pro Version mount , at the time of ordering your camera . This listing is for a brand new ,Sigma SD14 camera body ,with a pre installed Leica-R Lite ,or Nikon-F Lite ,custom mount replacement kit, designed and manufactured by Sigma Cum Laude (still in the original box with the original Manual , Software ,warranty, charger and battery . Number of actuations under 10, for testing the installation only) This camera was purchased to be converted and sold. It is offered for sale to accommodate those who feel uncomfortable doing a mount installation themselves. I will have similar offerings about once a month. Camera sold As Is , no returns accepted. Of course the listing is for the body only with one of either mounts pre-installed. The lenses and accessories shown are for illustration only and they are not included in the auction , nor are they for sale.
